Oxford late 00’s claim Generations Trophy

By October 14, 2014News

Last weekend OUYC was delighted to welcome alumni and current sailors from Oxford and Cambridge for the annual Generations Trophy. The day started calm but the breeze picked up to allow a packed day of racing.

Three round robin leagues were completed followed by finals and even some extra racing for those slightly further down the rankings! As a result all the teams benefited from some great races to kick of the season in style while also catching up with many old friends. Finally, after only a very brief dip in the lake for one crew, Oxford late 00’s (Cooper) emerged victorious edging out Cambridge 70s and Oxford 90s, in second and third respectively. The current teams along with alumni then attended the wonderful Oxford and Cambridge Sailing Society dinner where the prize giving took place.

We are already looking forward to next year’s event and would like to extend our thanks to Jeremy Atkins O&CSS Secretary who ran the racing and to Magdalen College School for the loan of their boats.
