Sailing Socials

Between actual sailing on the sea we have regular pub meet-ups and nights out to Park End. These regular socials are usually on Wednesday evenings in a central Oxford pub or club. They are announced over the yachting mailing list.

How to get involved?

All yachting socials are announced on the OUYC yachting mailing list. Follow this link to find out how to subscribe to OUYC’s mailing lists.

Annual Dinner

The OUYC annual dinner is the social highlight of the club’s year. The dinner coincides with the Oxford Invitational Trophy  (Top Gun) Regatta, in January or February each year. OUYC’s current and former members, be they racers, cruisers, yachtsmen or dinghy sailors gather in their black tie suits and cocktail dresses, along with racers from other unis, to enjoy the best food and wine that an Oxford College can offer. After the meal we all move on  to the college bar then out for a club night.

Welcome Drinks

Welcome drinks are early in Michaelmas term to welcome both racers and cruisers, and all those who are interested in sailing. Come around to have a chat with OUYC Committee, yachties and dinghy sailors, and find out about how you can get involved.

Freshers’ Curry

The freshers’ curry is slightly after welcome drinks, and is a chance for the new squad to relax and get to know each other better before training begins in earnest

Other Activities

We like to mix up our social calendar with other events like punting trips, curry nights and more. We are always keen to try out new things so if you have any suggestions then let our social secretaries know and they’ll make it happen!
