This is the annual intercollegiate sailing competition, where teams from across Oxford compete for the prestigious OUYC Cuppers Trophy, currently held by Brasenose.

Sailing Cuppers is a great day out at the local Farmoor reservoir, with teams of four (2 boats of 2 people each) competing in short ‘Two-boat team races’ in OUYC’s Firefly Dinghies. Races are short, fast moving, tactical battles to outwit and out-manoeuvre your opponents. Alternatively you can try to just get around the course without ending up in the water. If you really enjoy it you may even want to try out for OUYC’s Blues racing squad in Michaelmas.

Squad members will be looking to recruit college teams so please contact me or your local OUYC representative if you want to try and form/join a team. You don’t have to have a squad member to be competitive either – Lincoln did very well last year with no squad sailors.

All experience levels are welcome, so feel free to get involved whether or not you’ve done any sailing/team racing before.

The racing will be followed in the evening by a traditional sailing social
